We’re Nicole & Jeffery — two parents in the thick of raising little kids, currently ages 4 and 18 months. Nicole works full time outside the home, and Jeffery is an artist, creator, designer, and stay-at-home dad. Most days, we’re just trying to slow down and savor this season of life despite all the outside noise, distractions, and pulls on our time.

Our perspective on parenting is deeply shaped by our own experiences, the way our brains work, and the kind of childhood we want our kids to remember. We believe in the importance of play, connection, creativity, and low-fidelity living — slowing down enough to notice the little things, make space for imagination, and truly be with each other. We don’t think parenting has to be perfect to be meaningful.

Through Atypical Post, we share personal letters, Jeffery’s art, play ideas, favorite books we’ve been reading (for both kids and adults!), and little pieces of everyday life with other parents navigating the joys, challenges, exhaustion, and beautiful messiness of parenting.
